Karimunjawa Island
Underwater World Paradise in Central Java
Karimunjawa Island located in Jepara, Central Java. This island can be reach with ferry boat KMP Muria within six hours from Kartini Port and 3,5 hours by fast boat from Tanjung Mas Semarang Port or using airplane from Ahmad Yani Airport to Dewandaru Airport.Karimunjawa is a group of island which consist of 27 islands. Since 15 March 2001, Jepara Government assigned Karimunjawa became Preserved National Marine Park. The crystal clear sea and the white sand mixed into the breathtaking scenery. The best time for weather is April to November and the rainy season peaking between December and February.
It was beautiful Friday when I start my journey by visiting Cemara Island and had snorkelling experience for the first time. Karimunjawa have 12 dives site, located on fringing reefs around the island and shipwrecks. The underwater world is really great and the coral reef is well preserve, sea water salinity in around Karimunjawa is very high, so the snorkeler must using goggle to avoid red eye.
Either local tourist or foreign tourist struck with amazement of Karimunjawa both underwater world and the island. The nature preservation and underwater world are the magnet or tourist attraction. There is mangrove forest, shark captivity, turtle captivity and eagle captivity, other tourist attractions isthe “floating house”, its traditional house that built above the sea level and it made from wood. A good lesson learned from the community who live in Karimunjawa, theywilling to participate in preserving the nature.
